BRONZE TACTILE MAP
Bronze architectural model of a playground for the Magical Bridge Foundation, 30 x 24 in (76 x 61 cm).
Concept Realizations was commissioned by the Magical Bridge Foundation to design and fabricate a detailed bronze scale model of its flagship universal access playground in Palo Alto, California.
The map will allow blind and low-vision visitors to orient themselves and navigate the playground by touching the model. A camera mounted above the bronze will track the position of a stylus as users point to different features and areas of interest, and interact with our machine-readable digital model of the map to play an audible description of the selected features.
This experimental way-finding application was developed in cooperation with the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute.
