BRONZE SCALE MODEL OF FDR’S WHEELCHAIR

Tactile exhibit for the US National Park Service.

Concept Realizations has been commissioned by the US National Park Service to design and produce this 16” tall bronze replica of US President Franklin D Roosevelt’s wheelchair. Currently in production, when complete, it will be on permanent display at the Home of Franklin D Roosevelt National Historic Site in Hyde Park, New York.

FDR personally designed his wheelchair, and this tactile display is intended to highlight his innovations, personalizations —including an ashtray that slides out of view under the seat when not in use—and contributions to modern wheelchair design.
